School Vision: "The Quest for Success"
School Mission Statement: Strengthening foundations and igniting a love of learning as students pursue a lifelong quest for success.
Camelot Intermediate School serves approximately 525 4th- 5th grade students. Established in August of 2009, Camelot came about as a result of looking at ways to equalize and improve the educational opportunities for Brookings students. Camelot Intermediate School can be further defined by five major programs it implements. One such program is Project-Based-Learning where learning is made more relative to students with modern technology. The Student Assistance Team is a group of teachers that meets every week to intervene on behalf of students that may be less successful than we would hope and the Visual Thinking Strategies Program emphasizes improving observation skills, communication skills, and writing skills.
Camelot staff consists of a principal, counselor, 27 intermediate teachers, one secretary, and several teaching assistants. The school’s faculty averages 19.2 years of teaching experience with approximately 45 percent holding masters degrees.
