Our aim is to assist middle school students through four areas of development: emotional, academic, career, and personal/social. Children’s middle school years can be the most positive time for self-discovery. Together, middle school counselors, parents, teachers, administrators, and community members can help students focus on the journey of transition through a collaborative effort using patience, understanding, and above all, caring.
Services: The way we assist the students through the developmental areas are individual counseling, group counseling, and classroom guidance. We are available for consultation with parents, teachers, and other community professionals. We welcome phone calls, emails and walk-ins.
We serve as the coordinators for the Natural Helper's program, students who have been trained to assist their classmates with problems. Mrs. Hoffman and Mr. Adamson are both members of Brookings County Child Protection Team and serve on local boards (Back2school and Brookings Backpack program). Another role we play is matching students up with mentors through Brookings County Youth Mentoring (BCYMP) and assist in coordinating tutoring services.
