Hello! My name is Alexa Kapp, and I am the General Music & Choir Director at Mickelson Middle School. This will be my 5th year with the Brookings School District and I'm so excited for another great year! Music brings me so much joy, and each day I look forward to sharing that joy with my students! 

Here is my life in a nut shell: I grew up in the small town of Kimball, South Dakota. I graduated in 2010 ready to take on the world, and explore my passion for music a little further. I pursed a degree in Music Education at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota and graduated in 2014. Then, in 2019, I earned my Master of Music Education degree through an online/in-person program offered at NSU.

It was at NSU that I met my husband, Corey Kapp. He graduated a few years before me and started his career at Daktronics. In 2014, I graduated, we got married and decided to stay in Brookings - we have loved it ever since! I started my career with Flandreau Public Schools as the MS/HS Choir Director. I enjoyed my time there, but I'm very grateful to be working in the Brookings community now! Now, we are navigating the world as a family of four (five with our dog Bentley) and enjoying every moment with our littles, Levi and Ivy.
