This month's Alumni Spotlight features Jordan Paula, a 2005 graduate of Brookings High School, who has built a career in education and currently serves as Principal at Brandon Valley Middle School.
After graduating from BHS, Jordan attended South Dakota State University, where he was a member of the Jackrabbit football team and involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. His experiences working with camps and clinics helped lead him toward a career in education. He earned a degree in Business Economics and a teaching certificate in Business Education from SDSU and later earned his Master's in Educational Leadership.
Jordan's career has taken him to schools in Rapid City, Minnesota, and Brandon, South Dakota, where he has served as a teacher, activities director, associate principal, and now middle school principal.
Looking back on his time at BHS, Jordan remembers the opportunity to compete in both soccer and football during the same season his junior year, as well as the teammates, coaches, and experiences that helped shape him.
His advice for today's Bobcats is a great reminder:
"The grass is greener where you water it."
Jordan encourages students to focus less on comparing themselves to others and instead work toward becoming the best version of themselves.
Thank you, Jordan, for sharing your story with us and for continuing to make a difference in education!
