BHS Homecoming is a few weeks away, and it's time to build those floats and get our candy bags ready because the BHS Homecoming Parade IS BACK!!! Let's see if we can outdo last year's 70+ entries and make our parade the best ever. This year's theme is "The Brookings Tea Party...Let's Spill the Tea."
On Friday, October 4, classes will dismiss at 1:00 to head downtown for our 2:00 parade. The parade route starts at 6th St & 5th Avenue, goes south down 5th Avenue to Front Street, heads west down Front Street to Main Avenue, then goes north down Main Ave where it ends at 6th Street. Coaches, Advisors, Managers, Directors, Bosses, or Anyone leading a community group, get your entry ready and register. Go to the BSD Homepage and register. Entries are due on Friday, September 27.

I am excited to share that Justin Stanley has verbally accepted the High School Principal position, and his contract officially starts on July 1, 2024. After working with him for the last school year, I am confident in his skills and abilities for this position.
Justin Stanley joined the Brookings School District in 2021 as the Assistant Principal at Brookings High School. His educational career began at Horizon Middle School in Bismarck, North Dakota, where he taught 8th grade for a decade. Following this, he served as Principal of Harvey High School in Harvey, North Dakota, for six years.
A native of Brookings and an alumnus of Brookings High School, Justin graduated in 1999. He holds undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and Physical Education from the University of Mary, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Catherine University, and Administration credentials from North Dakota State University.
Justin is married to Deann Stanley, and together they have five children: Rowan (18), Ava (16), Cruz (12), Lyric (10), and Briar (6).
Due to Justin’s appointment, the district will open the Assistant Principal position. We look forward to Justin's leadership and the continued success of our high school under his guidance.

Boys and Girls Club Families,
The Brookings School District is thrilled to announce the launch of our Early Learning program next fall. As a participant in the Boys and Girls Club program, you can enroll your child in our preschool offerings through the Brookings Childcare Collaborative. Like your current experience, we will provide Pre-K and Extended Enrichment services from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Pre-K programming, offered as half-day services onsite at the Brookings School District, will be $325 per month. For those who wish to extend their child's time in the program, the Boys and Girls Club will offer Extended Enrichment programming at the three elementary schools for an additional fee of $350.
Please use the provided link to enroll for Fall 2024 Pre-K sessions. Upon submission, a $100 deposit can be remitted at the Brookings School District Administration Office at 2130 8th St. S. All current Club students will have priority placement through April 8. After that date, the remaining seats will be filled in order of completed registrations, and Club students will not be guaranteed a placement.
Program-specific information will be shared over the next few weeks; however, we wanted to ensure registration information was available for families wishing to secure a placement next fall. If you plan to register for Extended Enrichment, that link is provided below.
We are excited about the programs being developed and look forward to our partnership with you and your family!
