An Unexpired Term Fulfillment vacancy has occurred on the Brookings School District Board of Education, and the Board will appoint a qualified individual to fill the open position in accordance with state law (SDCL 13-8-25) and District Policy BBE.

Under state law, the vacancy must be filled by appointment, and all current board members, including the vacating member, participate in the appointment process. The individual appointed will qualify as if elected at or before the next regular School Board meeting and will serve until the next succeeding election. The appointment will be made by majority vote during an open session, with the action appearing on a published agenda.
